Paintless dent removal is an innovative technique that aims to remove dents wherever possible restoring the original paint on your vehicle. Most insurance companies now require a PDR quotation quote and we work with insurance companies regardless to take the stress and confusion off you.

There are two main types of techniques – pushing dents from behind the panel or glue pulling from the outside. Any vehicle less than 10 years old are at a low risk of paint issues due to the industry standards and warranty of the factory paint.

Once vehicles are older than 10 years, the possibility of paint being cracked particularly due to glue pulling increases and often you hear “I might crack the paint”. This then requires what we call  ‘push to pain’ (PTP) on the quotation indicating to the insurance company that if the paint is cracked then it requires to be painted. Of course if the hail has cracked the paint, a PTP annotation is automatically applied to the quotation.

Of course in the private quote situation, a decision has to be made whether the consumer wishes to proceed for example if the vehicle was going to painted regardless or you the consumer wishes to “risk it”. The PDR technician may refuse to do the repair because of the risk of cracking based on the paint condition. Please kindly accept their refusal based on experience and to avoid further issues.

Different Types of PDR Tools?

Whale Tails  usually small to medium tools, the design of whale tails are to lever dents out using minimal access in between panels and using a twisting leverage action

Brace Tools used for getting in those tiny little holes at the edge of door panel, in gaps such as in between headlamps and fenders leveraging in braces.

Glue Pullers Sliding hammers and glue pullers are used to pull out or lift dents using glue tabs

Glue Pulling tabs glue is used to contact the glue tab to the dent fitting from the various shapes and sized tabs comfortably inside the dents to pull out the dent

Glue Sticks using varying colours for various specific weather temperature conditions are inserted in glue guns to allow glue tabs to stick and quickly or slowly get jeered out lifting or glue pulling the dent.

There are three main techniques in paintless dent removal:

• pushing dents: using special metal tools such rods, whale tails and brace tools to push dents from inside out. This technique requires access through rubber plug holes, lights, doors and windows
• glue pulling: using a glue puller or sliding hammer, glue tabs are glued using hot glue to stick to but not damage the paint and using inertia and a pulling technique, the glue is pulled out on or more jabs or pulls. Adhesives are easily removed using methylated spirits sprayed on the glued area
